Hermelynn Balfina

Hermelynn Balfina, also known as the Lady of the Tower, is the current leader of Stormlight, and former anti-pirate captain.

Background

Hailing from No Man's Landing on the island of Sandholm, Hermelynn Balfina's early life was marked by poverty and hardship. Witnessing the disparity between the haves and have-nots instilled in her a strong sense of justice. She eventually formed a crew of like-minded individuals (including Poppy Bloomshroom) and acquired a ship, The Reckless Princess, becoming a crew of self-styled privateers who hunted down those who exploited others. Balfina and her crew patrolled the waters as far east as the Sword Coast, but she always remained true to her roots. After each voyage, they would return to No Man's Landing and use their earnings to improve the settlement.

Ascension to Leadership

In 1494, Balfina's life took a significant turn. The Conclave, a group of magic-users who had settled in the tower citadel of Stormlight, along with representatives from the city guard and citizens of the Tower decided to establish a bi-annual system for choosing a leader. In an unexpected turn of events, Balfina was voted as the leader of the by a 2:1 ratio. Despite being a near-complete unknown in politics, she quickly gained the support and admiration of the people.

As the leader of Lynmark, Hermelynn Balfina relocated from No Man's Landing to Stormlight. She became a champion of the people, advocating for justice, strength, and the rights for all. Her passion and zeal, however, have also raised concerns among outsiders, who fear that her strong convictions could potentially escalate tensions with neighbouring island governments.
